Make a positive difference in the life a young person.  A nationally-recognized youth-serving organization continues to recruit volunteers to be matched up one-on-one with children from single-parent and nontraditional families, and to work with high school students enrolled in the Kauffman Scholars program.  The time commitment is 2-4 hours a week or a few hours a month.

 

JOHNSON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

A CASA volunteer is a trained community volunteer appointed by the court to advocate for the best interest of children who come to the attention of the court primarily as a result of abuse and/or neglect.  Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, able to handle 1-2 cases at a time for a specific period of time, and available to work with social workers and attorneys involved with the cases.

Volunteers are needed for a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration to mentor and counsel entrepreneurs.  You will lead workshops and seminars, serve in one-on-one mentoring and other specialized roles in marketing, IT and other areas.  Knowledge of small business start-up and operations is needed.  Weekday and weekend hours are available.

Have a desire to work in the classroom?  A nationally-recognized organization that recruits business volunteers to teach students state-approved, age-appropriate hands-on lessons about financial literacy, workplace readiness and entrepreneurship seeks 600 additional volunteers to teach K-12th grade curriculum in area school districts.  You must be at least 18 years old and available one hour a week for five weeks, morning or afternoon hours during the school day.
